Our society today is full people who are not conscious about the affects and consequences of the way they choose to live. Every choice we make about the way we live affects not only ourselves, but those we love, and the beautiful world we live in. To live consciously is to choose to become aware of how your daily choices of living affect those three things, self, others, and the environment.

By living consciously we move toward a safer, healthier, and assured future, a sustainable future, one that we can be sure that our grand children’s grandchildren will be able to explore, enjoy, and live among the majestic beauty it holds.

Steps toward living consciously are many, but you have to start somewhere. What better place than reusing products, or recycling and reducing waste?

There are tons of reusable products available on the market. How about using those porcelain, ceramic, or glass dishes that you have and that never see the light of day, because of the oh-so-easy disposable dishes that you have used so liberally for so long, that either takes the life of many trees to be produce, or sits in a land field somewhere never able to decompose as it is not decomposable. If you must use disposable dishes use recycled paper or bamboo plates and cups, and NEVER again use Styrofoam or plastic plates and cups. If you need to use disposable utensils use bamboo.

However, it is so much easier, economical, and environmentally friendly to just use your reusable dishes and utensils. So you have to do a bit of washing or rinsing, think of the waste you saved the planet from and the money you saved by doing it.

When throwing away your waste, sort things into paper, plastic, metal, and organics (food). Then recycle and reuse. Recycle the paper, plastic, and metal waste and reuse the organic waste as compost to be used as fertilizer in your own garden or sell to a garden that could use the compost themselves. If your town has recycling already in place for its waste management system, then please participate. Otherwise, you can find local recycling facilities or deposit centers to take your sorted recyclable waste to.

These are just beginning steps to start to live a more conscious lifestyle and more will follow on this blog.

Peace and Blessings,
